How To Strengthen Your Hair

Hair loss can be caused by stress, bad diet and even genetics. Women who face hair loss may feel as if part of their beauty has been taken away and lose some of their confidence. So how can we fight this problem? By strengthening our hair. Here’s how.

Put Aside The Electronics

Using a flat iron or hair dryer can dry out and weaken your hair. In addition to this the pulling of the hair with a brush can rip out some of the hair from your head. For best results use heated appliance to style your hair to a minimum.

No More Special Treatments

Keratin treatments, perms and hair coloring will all damage your hair in the long run. If you absolutely must color your hair them try a natural hair dye such as henna otherwise your hair will dry out and weaken over time.

Brush Your Hair…The Right Way

The first thing that we generally do after we take a shower is brush our hair. Ladies, stop the wet brushing today! Brushing your hair while it’s wet is a surefire way to rip your hair out. Instead run your fingers through your hair while it’s wet and then once it’s dry you can run a comb through it.

Massage Your Scalp

Getting or giving yourself a scalp massage relieves stress and works to stimulate your hair follicles so that your hair grows. For an extra boost try massaging your scalp with some aloe vera before you head into the shower.

Take Some Vitamins

Vitamins A, C and E are known to help strengthen your hair. While many of us feel that we have enough vitamins in the food that we eat this is not the case so it would be a good idea to take some vitamins on a daily basis. Taking them first thing in the morning is recommended but if you’re like me and you feel sick when taking vitamins in the am then take them before you go to bed.

Biotin Will Be Your New Best Friend

Biotin is one of the essentials in hair growth. It can be found in foods such as dairy foods, various fish, nuts and yummy fruits and vegetables. You can also purchase biotin pills and shampoo made from biotin for an extra push.

Watch Your Diet

Too much alcohol and caffeine strip your hair of its strength so while it’s ok to drink alcohol socially or have one or two cups of coffee a day, you shouldn’t overdo it. You should also make sure to drink at least eight full glasses of water a day. Water is good for every part of your body because it gets rid of the toxins (from drinking alcohol and coffee perhaps) and distributes all of the nutrients to your organs.

Don’t forget to get a haircut every four months so that you get rid of any split ends. Good luck!
